Tamiya started as a lumber business in Shizuoka, Japan, and moved into plastic models. Mini 4WD, small battery-powered cars that race on walled tracks, became one of its most famous lines.
What makes Mini 4WD different
There is no remote control. You tune the car (motor, gears, rollers, tires) before the race, and the track walls guide it. Building is the skill.
Why it keeps coming back
Each new generation of kids discovers it through anime, comics and local hobby shops, and the adults who raced as kids come back to it.
